Prayer Beads That Rock

Prayer Beads That Rock

Can Protestant prayer beads have a rock as a pendant, instead of a cross? Sure! Some prayer bead users prefer a rock, because not only do they consider the Lord to be their “Rock and Redeemer,” but also because they like the feel of stone in hand when they pray.

I’ve often created prayer beads with such stone pendants, such as the Pink Gray Agate Prayer Bead Necklace shown below.

And this Onyx Crosses Prayer Bead Necklace that features a beautiful onyx stone pendant:

Another way to represent the “God is my Rock” concept, is to choose prayer beads with a stone cross, like these Jasper Aventurine Prayer Beads:

This set not only has a lovely Jasper cross. Its other beads are also Jasper and Aventurine stones.

Stone pendants on prayer beads can also have other meaningful shapes, such as the lovely agate heart on these Rainbow Heart Prayer Beads:

Hematite is a potentially useful stone for use as a prayer bead component. Many believe Hematite is a healing and grounding stone that strengthens the body, transforms negativity, and helps handle stress. It also may enhance personal magnetism, optimism, and courage. It could be a winning combination with prayer!

The iridized Hematite cross in the Purple Blue Hematite Prayer Beads below is blue on one side and purple on the other. Iridized Hematite stone rings on the set’s Cruciform beads also make roller balls out of the faceted glass beads in their centers.

Protestant prayer beads may be used any way you wish, so feel free to choose a set with a pendant and other components that have special personal meaning to you. If the Lord is your Rock and Redeemer, choosing a stone pendant or beads could be perfect for you.

Other non-cross pendants I’ve used on my prayer bead creations include:

  • Pendants containing scripture verses
  • Glass frames that open to contain pictures, locks of hair, or other thin things
  • Faceted glass jewels
  • Angels or angel wings
  • Eagles or winged crosses
  • Tree of Life pendants
  • Opening metal boxes or cages to contain prayers, intentions, perfume sachets, pictures, or other meaningful items
  • Stars
  • Hearts

And even flashing battery-operated light bulbs, like the Lightbulb Crosses Prayer Bead Necklace shown below:

Press a tiny button on the light bulb’s base, and the bulb begins a rainbow light display. Press it again, and the display stops. This gives visual meaning to the belief that “He is the Light”!

So feel free to choose any kind of components for your prayer beads. Make them special and meaningful to you as statements of faith and useful tools for contemplative prayer. Check out all my prayer beads at PrayerWithBeads.com.
