PRAYER BEADS
Are Protestant prayer beads the same as the Catholic rosary?
Protestant prayer beads differ from the Catholic rosary because they do not require specific prayers. Instead, they allow believers to pray scripture, short prayer phrases, personal prayers, or themed prayers.
Can Protestants use prayer beads?
Many Protestants use prayer beads as a flexible prayer tool because they do not require specific prayers or devotions. Instead, believers may pray scripture, personal prayers, or short repeated phrases while moving through the beads.
Are Protestant prayer beads biblical?
While the Bible does not mention prayer beads specifically, it does encourage repetitive prayer, meditation, and continual prayer. Prayer beads simply provide a physical tool to help focus the mind and heart during prayer.
Do you have to pray specific prayers with Anglican prayer beads?
No. One of the defining features of Protestant prayer beads is their flexibility. You may pray scripture, short phrases, themed prayers, personal prayers, or any other form of prayer you wish.
Why are there 33 beads?
The number 33 symbolizes the traditional number of years in the earthly life of Jesus Christ. Some Protestant prayer beads, including all those made by Kristi Lyn Glass, include a 34th Resurrection bead, symbolizing Christ’s life after death and the promise to believers of their life after death.
What is the difference between Protestant and Anglican prayer beads?
There is no difference between Protestant and Anglican prayer beads. “Anglican” is associated with the Church of England and the Episcopal church. Protestant prayer beads were first popular among Anglicans and Episcopalians, so they were first called “Anglican prayer beads.” Although Anglicans and Episcopalians may use Protestant prayer beads, all non-Catholics (even those who are not Christians) may be interested in using Protestant prayer beads. They are called “Protestant prayer beads” to distinguish them from the Catholic rosary. They could be thought of as “non-Catholic prayer beads.” In mid-2022, Kristi Lyn Glass decided to eliminate any confusion between “Anglican” and “Protestant” prayer beads by replacing “Anglican” with “Protestant” in her prayer bead product descriptions.
What is the specific bead layout for Protestant prayer beads?
The circlet of Protestant prayer beads has four sections containing seven medium-sized “week” beads. Each section is separated by a larger, “Cruciform” bead. The circle begins and ends at the tail, which contains another of the medium-sized beads (which may be used as a Resurrection/listening bead), an invitatory Cruciform bead, and a cross or other symbolic pendant The week and Cruciform beads are typically separated by smaller spacer beads to facilitate the finger flow from bead to bead.
What is a chaplet?
A chaplet is an abbreviated set of Protestant prayer beads. When Protestant prayer beads are created in chaplet form, they typically contain a pendant/cross followed by a Cruciform bead, a Resurrection/Listening bead, another Cruciform bead, seven Week beads, and a final Cruciform bead. All are typically separated by smaller spacer beads. Chaplets may be used for prayers similar to those used on a full set of Protestant prayer beads by repeating the use of the Week beads as many times as desired before exiting the strand toward the cross/pendant. Chaplets may also be kept in your pocket or attached (in either loop or clipped form) to your purse, belt loop, back pack, or rear view mirror for handy use or as beautiful statements of faith.
How do I pray using chaplet-length Protestant prayer beads?
Chaplet-length Protestant prayer beads contain only one set of seven Week beads, rather than the four sets found in a full set of Protestant prayer beads. They also contain only two, instead of four, Cruciform beads. The beads are organized in a single strand, rather than in a circular pattern. You enter prayer, as usual, at the cross or other pendant, and proceed through the Invitatory, Resurrection, and First Cruciform beads. Then your fingers travel through the seven Week beads to the Cruciform bead at the end of the strand. Then you simply go back and forth on the Week beads between the two Cruciform beads as many times as desired to complete your prayers on those beads. Then you move from the first Cruciform bead through the Resurrection/Listening and Invitatory beads, to the Cross or other pendant to complete your prayer session.
What types of Protestant prayer beads are available?
All of Kristi Lyn Glass’ prayer beads include Resurrection beads in their design. The bead sizes used determine a set’s overall length. Kristi typically uses glass, metal, and stone beads in her designs. Sets made with plastic or wooden beads are available from other prayer bead designers. Kristi designs some sets that may be worn as necklaces or bracelets, Bracelet lengths may either be designed as a Chaplet (containing 11 beads) or a bracelet style (containing all the beads in a full size set of prayer beads). Necklace and bracelet styles serve as a daily reminder and statement of faith while keeping the beads available for prayer. Explore Kristi Lyn Glass’ handcrafted Protestant prayer beads here.
What is the easiest way to start using Protestant prayer beads?
To easily get started using Protestant prayer beads for general or topic-focused prayers, check out Kristi Lyn Glass’ guided prayer videos. Their soothing background music will also enhance your prayer time, and you can stream them on almost any device. If you want to start off on a personalized prayer journey with the beads, you could simply choose phrases or prayers to use on the Cross, Invitatory, and Resurrection/Listening beads, when entering and leaving the bead circle. Then choose a phrase or prayer to use on all of the Cruciform beads and another phrase or prayer to use on all of the Week beads. It may help to write all these down, in order of use, and follow your written notes until you have memorized the prayer pattern. Once you have memorized a prayer pattern, you can simply pick up your prayer beads and let them rather automatically lead you through that prayer. You can then move on to creating custom prayer bead prayers for specific purposes or needs. If this all seems daunting, check out Kristi Lyn Glass’ guided prayer videos.
What is included with a prayer bead or chaplet purchase?
You will receive the purchased prayer beads or chaplet plus a velvet storage pouch, a lifetime restringing guarantee, a 20-page full-color booklet created by Kristi Lyn Glass describing the beads’ pattern, history, and use, and containing eleven sample prayers that may be used with the prayer beads. If you order more than one chaplet or set of prayer beads, you will receive a booklet and storage pouch for each item purchased. For example, if you order a chaplet and a set of prayer beads, you will receive two storage pouches and two booklets with your order.
My prayer beads became unstrung. What can I do?
All prayer bead and chaplet purchases come with a restringing guarantee. Simply return all the prayer bead or chaplet components (using a shipment method that provides tracking service) to Kristi Lyn Glass for free restringing. Provide your return shipping address, and send your shipment to: Prayer Bead Restringing Request, Kristi Lyn Glass, PO Box 281630, Lamoille, NV 89828.
If you are missing any of the prayer bead or chaplet components, contact Kristi before returning the rest of the components for restringing. Provide your name (and the name of the purchaser, if a gift), a description of your prayer beads and the missing component(s), and your approximate order date (if known) so she can determine whether the missing components are still available. Most prayer beads and chaplets are unique creations, but if replacement components are not in stock and can be acquired, you will be sent a Helcim invoice for their cost (including shipping of the new components to Kristi from the manufacturer). Once that invoice has been paid, you may return your prayer beads for restringing. Kristi Lyn Glass will pay for the repaired item(s) to be shipped back to you.
How do I clean my prayer beads?
Regularly clean prayer beads or chaplets by immersing them in soapy water and gently scrubbing them with a soft toothbrush. Pay particular attention to the areas between the beads. If your prayer beads contain glued-on rhinestones, do not soak them for long, or you might dissolve the glue and/or loosen the rhinestones. Be especially careful and gentle when scrubbing rhinestoned, foiled, or non-glass parts of your prayer beads or chaplets.
Does Kristi Lyn Glass make the beads used in her jewelry designs?
Kristi Lyn Glass has not yet ventured into glass bead making or kiln work. However, she does make resin-filled bezels which are often cross-shaped. The latter are often featured components on her prayer bead designs.

What is Solfeggio frequency music?
Since the eighth century, many different sacred music traditions have used Solfeggio frequency tones to heal and raise consciousness. Each tone in the nine-note Solfeggio scale vibrates at a specific frequency and has a different purpose and effect on the human mind and body. The 963 hz Solfeggio “God Frequency” or “Miracle Tone” positively affects the pineal gland and the Crown chakra, bringing the body and mind to its highest vibrational state. Listening to music composed using this tone generates feelings of unconditional love and connection to God or Source. This paves the way to experiencing spiritual enlightenment and manifesting positive circumstances and outcomes through prayer. Kristi’s prayer videos therefore contain 963 hz Solfeggio background music to enhance your prayer time.
Are video parts of the prayer videos all the same?
Yes. They are designed to show you which beads you should be holding as the prayer progresses. Once you become familiar with the bead pattern, you will likely begin praying with your eyes closed, so you can focus on the prayer itself.
How will I know when to move to the next bead, if my eyes are closed?
A gong will sound to tell you to move to the next bead. There are two different gong tones: one for Invitatory and Cruciform beads and the cross, and another for the week beads.
